How much do you trust Him? Give your life to Him and He will work through you and use you as His tool. Give your life over to Him and let Him take control. It's really hard to do, but it's entirely worth it.

We all have troublesome times. As you deal with them, remember that God loves you and will help you out of it. He doesn't relish in our grief and He will give us what we need to overcome it. Pray to Him and be blessed with His gifts.

We don't have to rely on mere stories to believe in God. Sure, they help, but what will really change the skeptic's mind is a miraculous event. They happen every day. Every time a child is conceived and born, it's a miracle. When a child is born prematurely but survives because the right staff members were there (on their day off) to help, it's a miracle. They're all around us. We really just need to pay attention.

It's really important to ask God for help when you need it. It's more important to let Him help you, though. Turn away from evil and walk with God. He loves you and nothing in this world can separate you from that love. If you've faltered, ask for forgiveness. Regardless of why, go to God and find comfort in Him.

ourselves alone. Remember His help, whether you know it's there or
not. God is behind everything. Don't forget that as you go through

There's so much in this world to be afraid of. There's so much out
there that can terrify and petrify us. The good part is that God will
be with us and He can take care of anything. Turn to God with your
problems. Let Him soothe you and ease your mind. He will protect us if
we let Him.

When we live according to the Spirit, we don't need laws to govern us.
Maybe this sounds puzzling, but it's true. Instead of needing to be
governed by laws, our actions will be pleasing to God, which will be
far better than actions which just abide by laws.

God gave us His Spirit so that we can feel His presence. Truly this is

Words can be really shallow and dangerous. Instead of saying that you believe or saying that you love, why don't you show it? There's a phrase used in creative writing that is "show, don't tell." Don't just tell people what you believe, but show them. It's so much more effective.

Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice for us so that we don't need to repeatedly make blood sacrifices to God for atonement. This doesn't mean that we can do whatever we want, though. Sacrifice yourself to God. Let Him use you in whatever way He sees fit. That's a real statement of faith.

It can be incredibly hard to motivate yourself. For this reason, it's a great idea to get help from our Christian friends. trust in your friends enough to call back on them and let them help you move forward and keep you from moving backward.

This is why evangelism can be so hard. People who live in sin probably aren't going to want to stop doing so. What we need to do is pray for them, be examples of good Christian faith and be open to talking with them. Remember that God has hand-picked certain people to minister certain individuals, but don't lose heart easily. It may just take time before a person is ready to hear the Gospel and understand it.

There are a bunch of denominations out there, but there's one important piece of doctrine that we all believe. Christ died for us and He gives us salvation. Think about what's important. Think about Christ, not whether or not someone's going to Hell because of how he looks or what he's done in the past. Show your faith through love.

God does not grow tired. It can be exhausting to do His will, but we can count on God to replenish our resources if we ask Him to. Go out and spread the Gospel, but as others take life from your words, go back to God so that you can be restored. Always return to God and be replenished.

Take heart in God's Providence and do the job well. Use what He has given you and turn to Him if you need help. God loves us and wants to help us, but we need to want Him to help us.

Stay in God's word, as it will help keep you on the right path. Jesus prays this because, as we are sent into the world, we need to be spreading the Gospel in the right way. We have to show that we care about it and that's a lot easier to do if we're sanctified by the Bible and kept purer. Spend time in the Word daily and keep your focus where it needs to be.

Despite what we may think, it's so easy to be distracted and find yourself far from where you're supposed to be. Try to cut back on the distractions and, most of all, continue to spend time in God's word and in prayer. He'll keep you focused if you let Him and talk to Him.

The devil doesn't have as much power over us as some might think. In fact, he's kind of powerless if we don't give him room to work in our lives. Give him an inch, he'll take a yard. Keep him out of your life by resisting temptation and staying focused on God. God will give you the strength. You need only apply it. Stay close to God and He will protect you and help you.

I'm not sure I know anyone who can say that he or she has led a life free of a little hypocrisy. It's a horrible thing, really. It can corrupt the image of the important things in life and destroy someone's credibility. People who do this can very easily misrepresent God. If you feel like your life doesn't coincide with certain key things in the Bible, maybe it's time to let go of some things and become stronger in the Word.

Blessed is the man You discipline, O LORD, the man You teach from Your law; You grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.

I feel that the key element of this verse is that the man is granted relief because he followed and learned from God. Even though he was disciplined, he found relief in the end. If we believe in God and follow His laws, then pain is only temporary. Don't lose confidence in our Savior if things aren't going as you planned. Without a doubt, they ARE going as God planned. Always be mindful of God's teachings and His Word.

No human is perfect. The only human who ever was perfect is Jesus, who was the Son of God. In the ten commandments, we're told not to give false testimony. In other words, we're told not to lie. If we act like we're perfect, we're lying. Know that we're all scarred by sin but know that God will forgive us if we repent.

Is there a task that you do without complaining? I know it's hard, but it's something to strive for. You'll probably become a more pleasant person and you can know that God will be proud of you. Complaining is almost like saying that the task isn't as important as it really is. What about working out our salvation? How important is that to you?

This is so easy to do these days. It really just runs rampant everywhere. The question to ask yourself while talking is "Does this glorify someone or add some negativity anywhere?" Why make the world a negative place? Why can't we all be positive. Even when you're trying to fix something that's wrong in a relationship or in just one person, it can be done well. There's a negative way to do this and there's a positive way. Keep things positive and see what happens.

I feel that this is pretty simple. If you don't have what it takes, don't say you can do it. Likewise, if you don't live life the way God wants you to, don't tell people that you are. It's not the way things are supposed to happen and it's deceptive.

Have you ever heard the phrase "I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it"? Well, that phrase inspires some fear. God can take us out of the world just as easily as He put us in it. That merits a certain respectful fear. Love the Lord, but know His power and reverently fear Him.

God is compassionate. God is kind. God, through Jesus Christ, is humble. God is gentle. God is patient. We're supposed to be more like Christ, right? More like God? They may be challenging to pick up, but try to cover yourself in these traits.

I imagine that in this context, "when in Rome" is a popular phrase. However, we're not just tourists. Instead, we're ambassadors and we've got to continually glorify God through what we do. Try to be a good spokesperson for God. Stay as pure as you can.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Our lives as Christians don't include a lot of things that others' lives might include. Our lives may seem narrower in experiences than others', but there's a key difference. We're saved and recognize that fact. God came to earth and died for us so that we could live forever with Him. Living the narrow path may be difficult, but isn't it worth it?

I know a lot of people who have problems with authority. I guess what they don't seem to get is that the authority figures are there for our protection and for our own good. Keep that in mind as you think about the authorities that we submit to.

Accountability is a great thing that can keep us out of our own "favorite" sins. Through other believers, you can find strength and break the chains that keep you ensnared in sin. Go to others for help. Most of the battles against habitual sins are near impossible to do alone.

The choice is simple: live through Christ and righteousness or die through sin and evil. So many of us don't choose wisely, though. Push temptation away from you and live according to God's Word. Attain your life and run far from death.

Paul reminds us that God assigns our roles in the Body of Christ. When you're given a job, do it well. Use the tools that God has given you to be the best part of the Body of Christ that you can be. Know that not everyone can be the head or the mouth or the hands. Does your belly button complain that it's not an ear? Be humble, knowing that God chose you to do what you can for a reason.

We've all sinned. It's mainly a matter of knowing that we're wrong. Let God know you're wrong and let Him know you're sorry and He will forgive you.

God's Word is extremely important. It really does have the answers that we seek if we look in the right places. Study it and reflect on it. You may face some persecution, but it's worth it.

Shepherds know their flock and pay attention to it. Likewise, we should know ourselves and perform "self-examinations." Look for whether or not what's inside matches up with what God wants for us. We are His flock. We need to act like it.

We don't need to want anything because God will provide. There will always be things that we want in life, but we don't need to be distressed by those desires. God knows what we need and will give it to us one way or another.

God is magnificent and His thoughts are immeasurable. Yet He knows all of our thoughts and loves us anyway. As in the last two lines of this passage, take comfort in knowing that God is with you even when you wake up. He is everywhere, but most of all, He wants to be in your heart.

Do we really want to be labeled as flawed? I'd assume that it's safe to say that the vast majority of us would prefer to be "perfect" at something. Well, who was the most perfect? Why shouldn't we strive to be like Christ, then?

Scripture is extremely important. This passage tells us how useful it is. Now, who carries their bibles with them everywhere they go? Probably not many of us, so to remedy this, we need to learn the words. Know them and reflect on them. Let God open our eyes through certain verses and apply the verses to your life. Then you know you'll be living by God's Word.

There's a lot of evil in this world and even the most righteous people add to it at some point. We could just fall into despair and ask "what's the point?" We could just give up now and fall deeper into sin. We're already sinners, right? Well, there is a point. God sent His Son for a reason. He didn't die for nothing. Likewise, trying to be good and glorifying God through our actions isn't for nothing. Strive to be righteous. Serve those who need help. Be who God wants you to be.

This passage refers to Babylon, where people were focused on buying and selling the best of the best. They also loved money, so as a whole, the Babylonians seemed to be pretty material. Well, it's said that Babylon would be destroyed and it was. They made gods out of money and possessions and were punished accordingly. Don't cling to the worldly. Cling to God.

We think we know everything sometimes. Unfortunately, this sometimes causes us to be hit with the painful realization that not much is really clear to us. Don't count on earthly things. Even good, Christian people will fail you at some point. God is the only constant. Look to Him and rely on His grace.

Many of Jesus' followers left after hearing these words, but the Twelve disciples stayed. It's a difficult lesson. It means that not everyone we'd like to live eternally will. But instead of turning from God, why don't we send the Word out with a passion? Why don't we come out of our comfort zones and speak to the people about their salvation?

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

There are two things I see here that are important to note. First, we need not worry. Instead, trust in God and the Christ. He will provide. Second is a lesson that may hit a little closer to home. When you love someone, you adore being near that person, correct? Well Jesus wants to be with us. He wants us to stay in His house and become part of His family. That means commitment, but overflowing love. As I've said before, Christ didn't die for nothing. He came, lived and died so that we could live. Remember this through the trials of life and know that He is with you.

When the world might seem like a bitter, cold, lonely place, remember that we can always turn to God for comfort. God walked the earth as Jesus and continues to be everywhere. Remember His omnipresence and remember that He loves us.

This isn't really saying that if we seek God, we'll be given everything that we want. However, it is saying that if we seek Him, we will have everything we need provided for us in one way or another. Do not be selfish, but go out into the world and help others. By doing so, you can help further God's kingdom. That is what we need to be doing.

Some try, but will fail to prevent God's will from happening. God knows what He's doing and knows how to use His creations to work out His plan. Take comfort when things just don't seem to be going right. As much as God doesn't seem to be with you, He really is and wants to help you. Maybe you just have to open yourself up to Him or truly focus on Him before realizing that He never left you alone.

Be prepared for the situations you might face and know what instincts you shouldn't give into. Do this by staying in God's Word and in prayer. Never forget what Christ did for us. Never forget what "Christ" means.

This is the significance of prayer in groups. If you haven't ever been to a prayer meeting or something similar, it's a great experience, as it keeps you close to God and reminds you that He's there. Personally, I'm fond of the morning prayer meetings. It's a great way to start the day. Be open to praying with friends. It can definitely be helpful.

We used to sing this verse as a song in youth group. However, I'm not sure I understood it before. Sure, the words are easy enough, but the meaning is strong and maybe less understandable for a pre-teen. This verse tells us what we should do. We need to be fair, compassionate and merciful, humble and we need to spend time with God, knowing that He has authority. We need to focus on Him instead of ourselves. Keep this verse in mind as you go through your day.

When looking at how we should be living, we're not just talking about rewards that we get on earth. We'll be rewarded in Heaven, as well. We need to keep our mind on Heaven, our eyes on the goal. If things are bad on Earth, but you remain faithful, you will reap rewards in Heaven. Remember that God loves you.

Pretty much everything comes back to this. God loves us and we can be sure of that. Take heart, knowing that He loves us and loves spending time with us. Worship Him and meet with Him. Show Him that you love Him.

For me, spending time with God is a way to sort of recharge my batteries. I more or less get a second wind and I can deal with more things than I could otherwise. God will give us the strength we need to finish important tasks if we give Him time to do so. Spend time with God. Turn your eyes to the cross and remember His love. Trust in the Lord and be renewed.

God is quite indescribable. He is so good and He loves us very much. Seek Him and He will be with you and protect you. We needn't be afraid when we're under the protection of God. Sure, "bad" things may happen in our earthly life, but if we stay true in our faith, we can know true life and be with our Father for eternity. Trust in Him and be saved.

Worshiping God shouldn't be a chore. It should be something we want to do. You set aside time for those you love, right? What about God? After all, we're supposed to love Him. Make sure you spend time with God with a joyful heart. If you're not happy doing it, you're lying to yourself and to God. You'd be doing it for the wrong reasons.

I suppose this could be misinterpreted. We are to hate WHAT is evil, not WHO. One of the best quotes I can think of that relates to this is "hate the sin, love the sinner." If we go around hating everyone, then nothing gets accomplished. Love your fellow man and be an example for him.

There must be temptations out there somewhere that none of us could step away from. However, the important thing to note is that God won't let us be put to those tests. Moreover, He will give us the strength to conquer the temptation if we let Him work through our lives. Give Him some room and He will do miraculous things in your life.

God used Paul, despite his weaknesses. In fact, He worked through them and showed His glory through it. God can overcome anything if we let Him. Remember this as you're called to do something for the Lord.

This is really just a good thing to remember and it doesn't limit itself to lust, as it addresses in the rest of the passage. Control your body in everything and be a good example of Christians everywhere.

This is where accountability partners are great. We're only human, so
we probably shouldn't try to overcome sin solely on our own,

each other and always keep your guard against sin. You're never so
good that you can avoid temptation 100% of the time by yourself.

If you've heard the phrase, "spare the rod, spoil the child," this is where it comes from. Without discipline we become spoiled and delinquent. If you love someone, you want the best for him or her. Remember, laws aren't put in place to make us suffer. Rather, they're there to keep us safe, much like a parent wants to keep his or her child safe.

Take comfort in God's Word and meditate on it. In other words, do devotions. They're very helpful to your faith and they remind us of what God wants us to be doing. Draw close to God through devotions and rejoice in Him.

When Satan tried to tempt Christ, Jesus didn't falter because He was perfect. A reason that hits closer to home is that He knew the scriptures and knew what was required of Him as a human. Learn the scriptures and be able to call them up at will. It can be very helpful in making decisions.

One of the definitions for oppressed is "psychologically or mentally burdened." When you're weighed down with concerns, it's not fun, is it? Let God work in your life and let Him ease your mind. Turn to the Lord for everything. It's simple advice, but the rewards can be incredible.

Think about how much pain God went through for our salvation. He could have just let us sinning and going to Hell. Instead, He became man, endured torture and death, took on all of the sins of the world and even went to Hell just for us. That's an incredible sacrifice. Remember His love for us as we try to show our love to Him.

Christ died so that all of us could live eternally. Therefore, we have died as mortals. Live for God and work out your salvation. Follow Christ and live for Him.

The Bible doesn't say that Jesus was brought all of these people and He healed some. He healed them all. Trust in God's power. Ask Him for help and know that He can do anything. After all, He already overcame death and even raised Lazarus from the dead.

As a warning, this may seem a little strange on the surface, but I am going somewhere with this. So you thought that there wouldn't be anything redeeming in the movie Fight Club, right? Well, there really is something in the movie that's good, even spiritually. At one point Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) says, "Hitting bottom is not a weekend retreat." He's right. It's not a weekend retreat, but a lifestyle. I'm not saying that we have to give up our possessions, but I am saying that we have to free ourselves from what we've become attached to. In essence, we have to lose them. Durden follows his statement with, "It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything." It's probably more accurate to say "It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything significant." Or, maybe, "It's only after you've lost everything that God is free to do anything with us." Don't cling to the things in this world, but cling to God. He gives us life, not our possessions.

Learn from it so that you can become wise.

The context of this verse is that Jesus is telling the disciples when the end will come. The end isn't something to fear, though, because we have Christ and know Him as Lord. Be open with your faith and know that it's not up to us whether the person we're talking to accepts Christ. We're just the messengers.

God is truly amazing. He has blessed us in so many ways and even shows us miracles. Abram (Abraham) thought it was insane that he was being told that he'd have more kids. He thought it was physically impossible. But God showed him that nothing is impossible as far as God's concerned. Take comfort in this and don't be too afraid or ashamed to ask God for help.

We don't always know that we sin, but that doesn't keep our records clean. It's sort of like speeding because you didn't see the sign that changed the limit from 55 to 35. The only way we get out of the punishment is if we accept that fact that we're in the wrong and the person giving the sentence is feeling gracious. This is one reason why it's a good thing to stay in constant prayer. Allow God to reveal your sins to you so that you may repent and change your ways.

For His sacrifice, we should take up our cross and follow, not disobey His commandments.

Earlier today I was reading an article about the sin behind some of the actors and actresses who starred in The Passion of the Christ. This was slightly distressing, because the focus was being put on the humans in the movie, not its point. In reference to the sin on the actors, one person even said, "How can someone brush this off?" Now, this was a Christian site, so it prompted me to ask another question. How can God brush this off? How can God brush any of what we do off? He does it daily and we don't think to mirror it in our own lives. Be gracious to those who need it. It's quite possible that God's working through them and you can't see it.

Paul was blessed by God and a good portion of the reason was probably because of his endurance. He was beaten and thrown in jail, yet his faith didn't waver. It's so easy to lost faith in this world. So often are we tested and, unfortunately, some people fail. If you need such incentive, remember the rewards you'll get in Heaven for your faithfulness, your endurance. I've said it before (though perhaps out of turn), but nobody likes a quitter. Show your faith and strength by sticking close to God's path and show what you believe.

This sounds pretty harsh. However, it's conceivable that it should hit us all close to home. How often are you disobedient? This can come in many sizes, ranging from minor disobedience to, say, committing a crime. But it's all the same. The truth is that none of us obey all of the time. If we did, then we would be perfect. We would be God. Listen to your Father and try to do what He tells you, whether you understand it or not. He knows what's best for us. We say that often, but do we believe it? Let's start believing it enough to trust what He tells us.

This will probably sound bad, but this is just how disobedient we can be. Jesus, God incarnate, told His disciples to sit and wait for him. In Luke, Jesus tells them to pray so that they will not fall into temptation. And what did the disciples do? They fell asleep. We are a flawed people and God knows this. That's why He gave us a way to reconcile ourselves with Him. Sure, some may say that people are doomed, but if we know Christ and make the attempt to work out our salvation, we are saved.

To further God's kingdom, we can't just stay within our comfort zone and pal around with Christians. Instead, make friends with nonbelievers. That's not to say that you have to renounce your faith, however. Jesus hung out with prostitutes and other sinners. That was His ministry. Doctors do not visit the healthy. Likewise, we shouldn't just surround ourselves with other Christians. Though we can strengthen our faith through fellowship, it doesn't add to the number of saved people in the world. Take a step, maybe a leap, of faith and go outside of your comfort zone. Hold on to your faith, but see if you can minister to the ones who need it most.

As God was merciful to us, we should be merciful to others. Mistakes happen, some are more serious than others, but we are all human and are, therefore, all sinners. Be merciful in what you do, but show good judgment as well.

God created everything and we do nothing without His help in one way or another. So why shouldn't we give our all in anything we do? It's so easy to slack off and do things half-heartedly. I know I struggle with it. In the past, I've headed these emails with a command to ask God for what you need. He will give you what you need to finish a task. We just need to be prepared to use what He gives us and do our best to finish the task as best as we can.

Joseph recognized his brothers, yet chose not to react with bitterness towards them because they sold him into slavery. Instead, he gave them the grain they wanted to buy and even gave their money back. We shouldn't be bitter towards one another. Think about Joseph's situation. Don't you think you'd be a little bitter at someone who sold you into slavery? Even in Joseph's extreme situation, he was humble and acted with love. I know this is hard to do. I have a problem with it, myself. However, through God, all things are possible. Stay close to Him through prayer and devotions and love the world as you'd like to be loved.

He has blessed us in more ways that you may know and we're not deserving of the least of those blessings.

God doesn't try to make us feel bad so that he can feel better about Himself. Are there sins that you know about that you've forgotten to repent? Have you forgotten to repent in general? Repentance and faith save us, not anything that we do of our own nature.

Someone died on Monday. Someone dies every day, but this person has a really interesting story. Many people I've talked are at least a little bit discomforted by Christopher Reeve's death. Well, despite who you mourn, God can offer the peace that passes understanding. Look to God in time of mourning. Ask Him to work through you and comfort you. Mourning is important, but it's really not the end of the world, even if you're mourning someone you loved dearly. The important thing is that God can work through your situation and get you through it. Ask Him for guidance and He'll show you what to do. At times we just don't want to listen.

There is no division between sins. No one sin is greater than another and they can all be removed from our record if we merely repent. We don't know when Christ will be coming back. The key point here is that God will prevail. God is bigger than all of us. God is more powerful than anyone, especially Satan. Even demons know how powerful He is and tremble. Wouldn't you want the all-powerful God on your side rather than be against you? God deserves our praises, so why should we praise the things that don't even come close to matching up with God?

I guess this isn't so much of a commentary. Instead, it's a prayer. Father, I thank You for this day and for everything You've given us. I thank you for Your Word and ask that we may be diligent in studying it. Thank You for sending Your son to die on a cross for us, for our sins. Let us always focus on Christ, God made man. Let us always focus on the cross. Let us not forget the pain you endured and let us not forget the price of our salvation, which you have so graciously given. Please bless us in our daily lives and let us work towards Your will. In Jesus' holy name I pray, amen.

"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD ."
--Joshua 24:15
Take a stand in your faith. Others may worship idols, but know who you serve and know that He is truly Lord of all. It's ridiculously hard to have two masters, and given your definition of "master," if can be impossible. Know who you serve. Does that god match up with the one in which you believe?
